Quinta Esencia / Quintessence refers to a refined essence or extract of a substance, the intrinsic and central constituent of its character. For alchemists, it represented the fifth substance in addition to the four elements (air, fire, water, and earth) thought to compose the heavenly bodies and to be latent in all things.

Meet María José and Fernando, the pair behind Quinta Esencia Studio. María José is an artisanal product designer and consultant with a strong passion for natural dyes, textiles, all kinds of curiosities, experimentation, and collaboration with other creative beings. Fernando is a marketer fascinated with craftsmanship, travel and cultural diversity, always searching for new ideas and experiences.

Based in El Salvador, C.A. both share the same love about handmade traditions and are enthusiastic about helping preserve ancient techniques, particularly those at risk of disappearing in Latin American artisanal communities.
